ROCK OUT AT A ROCK-A-THON!
WHAT IS A ROCK-A-THON?
It's an opportunity for your group to gather at a location of your choosing to literally "rock " away the night and raise awareness and income for All God's Children. Your group is encouraged to recruit two or more fellow students or friends to form their own "rocking" team. The "team" then solicits donations from family, friends, businesses, etc., prior to the "lock-in" event. At the event, the teams will "rock" in rocking chairs for a time frame to be determined by you (normally a 6 to 12 hour period).
BUT MUCH MORE GOES ON...
As you plan the event, your imagination can run wild! It has been over a year now since we were honored by the first Rock-a-thon "rockers" and we have learned that the planning teams always come up with even more creative ideas for the event. Here are some examples of what other groups have done to "rock" out the night:
- While individuals are on break from their chairs, have some ROCKY Road Ice Cream for them to enjoy.
- Have a contest with "Guitar Hero ROCK Legend"
- Play a Basketball game called "Shoot the ROCK"
- Plan a worship service with Christian ROCK Music and a speaker from All God's Children
- Have a craft area where you can decorate stepping stones or make Pet ROCKS.
- Plan a Bible Study with emphasis on Jesus as our ROCK.
- Show a movie, like ROCKY or the recent Disney film with wrestling's The ROCK, or a Flinstones movie set in the town of BedROCK.
- Climb a ROCK wall.
- Play a game called "Pass the ROCK" (sitting in a circle while music plays and keep passing the ROCK. When the music stops, the one holding the ROCK is eliminated or must take over for someone ROCKING to play the game. Last player holding the ROCK wins a prize.
- Have great prizes for the groups who bring in the most donations at your ROCK-A-THON!
